Dr. Tashi Yangzome Dorji, Chairperson (KIL Board)

Dr. Tashi Yangzome Dorji has been appointed as a Chairperson of Koufuku International Limited (KIL) in March 2021

Dr. Tashi brings in more than 26 years of work experiences with the Royal Government of Bhutan and International Agencies. Dr. Tashi started her career as a Veterinarian in the National Animal Hospital in Chubachu, Thimphu for 12 years from 1995 till 2007. From 2008 to July 2020, she headed as a Program Director for the National Biodiversity Centre, under Ministry of Agriculture & Forests.  Dr. Tashi Yangzome Dorji currently serves as the Director of Department of Livestock, Ministry of Agriculture & Forests.

Dr. Tashi has various experiences in a number of positions held in International Representations as:

  • National Focal Point for the Commission on Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture (CGRFA)
  • National Focal Point for the International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture (ITPGRFA)
  • Member of the Ad Hoc Open-ended Working Group to Enhance the Functioning of the Multilateral System of Access and Benefit-sharing of the International Treaty (2016-2019)
  • Member of the Ad Hoc Committee on the Funding Strategy and Resource Mobilization (ACFSRM) of the International Treaty (2017-2019)
  • Member of the Informal Consultation by the Co-Chairs of the Working Group on the Enhancement of the Multilateral System of the International Treaty (2017-2019)
  • Member of the Ad hoc Technical Working Group on ABS for CGRFA (2016-2018)
  • Member of the Team of Technical and Legal Experts on ABS for the CGRFA(2016-2018)
  • Member of the Expert meeting on the Toolbox for Sustainable Use of Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture, 2016
  • Member of the Compliance Committee of the ITPGRFA (2013-2015)
  • Chair of the Asia Region and Vice Chair of the Commission on Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture (CGRFA) for the period (2011-2013)
  • Member of the Ad hoc Technical Working Group on Access and Benefit-sharingfor Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture 2011-13.

Dr. Tashi Yangzome earned her MSc. Degree in Wild Animal Health in 1999 in London, Royal Veterinary College, University of London. She graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Veterinary Medicine and Surgery (BVM&S) in 1994 from Murdoch University in Perth, Western Australia. She also completed a short certificate course in Veterinary Drugs in Indonesia in 1996. In 2017, she participated in the “Women in Executive Leadership Development Program” at the University of Queensland, Brisbane, Australia. In 2019, she also completed the Search Inside Yourself Teacher Training course organized by RCSC and became a certified SIYLI Teacher.

Dasho Nim Tshering, Hon’ble Director

 Dasho Nim Tshering served in various capacities at the Cabinet Secretariat and carries wide range of experiences in both pre- and post-democratic governance. He worked as Principal Secretary to the Second Prime Minister of Bhutan from July 2013 till May 2018 and served as Personal Secretary to the Chief Advisor of the Interim Government from July 2013 till May 2013. Prior to his current appointment, he served as Chief Program Officer, Government Performance Management Division, Prime Minister’s Office. His Majesty The King appointed Nim Tshering as a Deputy Chamberlain (Zimpon Wogma) on 19 November 2020 and primarily heads the Queen’s Project Office, His Majesty’s Secretariat.

Dasho Nim Tshering also currently serves as Board Director for Royal Monetary Authority of Bhutan and Bhutan Agro Industry Limited. He is also the Interim Chairperson of Bhutan Red Cross Society.

Dasho Nim Tshering comes from Chungkha, Bongo, Chukha. He earned his Master of Business (Public Relations) from Queensland University of Technology and is a recipient of Dean’s Award for Academic Excellence. He did his Post Graduate Certificate in Development Management from Royal Institute of Management and B.A. (Hons) in Geography from Sherubtse College, affiliated to Delhi University, India.

Mr.Roshan Sharma

Mr. Roshan Sharma has an Engineering Degree in Computers from Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology (2002) Delhi, India and Masters in Business Administration from Amity University, Noida (2019), India.

Over the past 20 years, He has served in various organizations such as the Royal Monetary Authority of Bhutan, UNICEF, Huawei Technologies Pvt. Limited, MONUSCO (D.R Congo, UN Peacekeeping), Selise Pvt. Ltd Bhutan.

Currently he serves as the Associate Director in DRIVE, Innovation and Technology Department of DHI, located in Thimphu Tech Park.

Mr. Tashi Penjor, Hon’ble Director

Mr. Tashi Penjor has been appointed as a Board Director of Koufuku International Limited (KIL) in March 2021

Tashi Penjor serves as Director for Department of Human Settlement, Ministry of Works and Human Settlement, Royal Government of Bhutan.   He has 17 years of experiences in preparing and reviewing human settlement policies, strategies, legislations, and land-use planning. Mr. Tashi has had major roles in designing and implementing architectural and landscape projects of holistic community growth and development under initiatives of Tarayana Foundation. Tashi is also the Core member for the formulation of Comprehensive National Development Plan for Bhutan 2030.

He has coordinated and formulated draft Spatial Planning Act and Spatial Planning Standards and implemented many major tasks of national importance structural drawings and urban master plans.Tashi is the member of Bhutanese Institute of Architects and Executive Member of Tarayana Foundation. Mr. Tashi Penjor also served as Board Director, Wood Craft Center Ltd, DHI.   

He earned his Master of Urban Design, in 2010 from the University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia and graduated with Bachelor of Architecture in 2004 from National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli, India.

Dr. Tshering Dorjee, Chief Executive Officer

Dr. Tshering Dorjee became 3rd Chief Executive Officer from 1st May, 2020. Prior to joining KIL, he worked under Department of Livestock, MoAFs, in various Senior management positions as a Regional Director and Program Director in Regional Livestock Development Centre in the Eastern Bhutan. Dr. Tshering began his career as a Dzongkhag Veterinary Officer in 2002 and served as a Senior Livestock Officers in Trashiyangtse and Trashigang Dzongkhags.

He has 18 years of professional experiences in the same field and has built strong social networks with the dairy farming communities in the Eastern Region. He was largely instrumental in bringing up the dairy value chain development in the region through cooperative structure and was strongly involved in creation of KIL Dairy Processing Plant in Trashigang as a Government counterpart representing the Department of Livestock. He also served as Board Member on KIL Board from March 2017 to February 2020.

He holds Masters in Communication & Innovation for Development (MSc. Comm. & Innov. Dev.) from University of Reading, England and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from University of Bologna, Italy. Tshering has completed Higher Secondary School from Sherubtse College Kanglung in 1991.
