About Us
Koufuku International Limited (KIL) started manufacturing in 2015, specializing in processed cheese, notably “Druk Zambala Cheese,” made from natural gouda, popular in Bhutanese cuisine. Additionally, KIL produces various dairy products. Founded in 2012 as a joint venture between Druk Holding Investments (DHI) and Shin Nippon Biotech Laboratories (SNBL), KIL initially exported Gouda cheese to Japan.
In 2017, DHI became the major shareholder with 80% ownership. In February 2020, shares were transferred to DHI from SNBL and Sano Unyu. KIL was the first dairy company in Bhutan certified to ISO standards in 2017.
Presently, it collaborates with 16 milk cooperatives, covering 1004 households across four districts, delivering 2500 to 3000 liters of milk daily to its plant in Trashigang. KIL is currently expanding its operations to add value to farmers’ milk and pursue growth opportunities.
